The 2017 Essay Competition – for school students
Our aim is to provide GCSE and A-Level students the opportunity to explore scientific horizons beyond the curriculum and to foster an interest in medicine as a career.
This year, the OMSG is offering students in Years 11-13 the opportunity to write a 1000-word article on the theme of curing patients in medicine under the title:
Do we really need to find a cure for everything?
Entries will be judged in three main areas:
1) creativity in interpreting the title
2) scientific approach and use of evidence to support ideas
3) clarity and logic of discussion
We are keen to receive all entries that explore this topic in an original manner.
The winner will receive £100 in book tokens and their entry will be published in the Gazette.
Please include your name, school and school year with your entry.
Deadline extended to midnight on 31 March
Best of luck!
